Arched windows rise the full height of the room, framing weathered brick and shutters across the calle, while a chandelier catches the light filtering through sheer curtains. A surprising choice for a Venetian dining room where Murano glass is expected, this one though is gilded wrought iron, echoing the fer forgé gates standing guard outside palazzi entrances or private gardens.
The volume alone is the architecture’s own gesture of importance, and so the envelope stays quiet in response: Marmorino walls in the softest beige, wooden window frames, and terrazzo floors in warm coral grounding the space.
Against this restraint lies an eclectic collection of colorful furniture, art, and objects that converse together: tribal sculpture beside contemporary canvases, antique icons beside bold checkerboard color, local Venetian textiles in silk or velvet reflecting patterns and colors from the surrounding, a library spanning 6m conceived as a cabinet de curiosités,
Heritage meets contemporary - a home that holds its history, while creating new lines in context. The renovation respectfully maintained the traditional Venetian characteristics while adapting it to a functional and modern lifestyle.
